Overview: The Basic Summer Color Palette
Welcome back ladies! Today, we will be covering the Cool Summer Color Palette
If you haven’t had a chance to read my article on the Soft Summer Color Palette, I highly encourage that you go back and review the particulars of the Soft Woman of Style characteristics; however, if you feel that the Soft Summer color palette doesn’t resonate with your natural coloring and energy then perhaps today’s article on the Cool Summer Color Palette will click with you; and as I always state ladies, when in doubt start at the beginning – Are You a Warm or Cool Season?
The Cool Summer Woman of Style is woman who also presents as cool in her overall coloring and also looks her absolute best in the subtle, toned colors found within the summer color palette. However, the range of colors from the summer color palette that sparkle and radiate on you are the purest colors from summer color palette. This means that although the summer color palette in general carries a more muted and subdued color range, the Cool Summer colors are the purest within the spectrum of summer colors. Moreover, women who present as a Cool Summer Woman of Style your determining physical characteristics will not be as soft and rich, as that of the Soft Summer Woman of Style. You present as cool, sometimes with a rosy-pink glow.
Let’s Take a Look At the Cool Summer Color Palette
So, you might be asking yourself what is the difference between Soft Summer vs. Cool Summer? Well, one of the main dominant characteristics of a Cool Summer Woman of Style is the noticeable difference in your overall coloring; which is slightly more rosy-pink and simply cool. You are absent of the subtle softness and richness found in women who fall within the Soft Summer color palette. Similar to that of the Clear Winter color palette the range of colors that belong to the Cool Summer color palette are the purest colors within the summer color season. As a result, the more softer, slightly richer colors from the Soft Summer color palette would be too muted against your natural coloring, due to your delicate, rosy-pink glow, and noticeably cool eyes that are NOT cloudy/smudgy often associated to women who are Soft Summers. You are simply cool, void of any warmth and look stunning in the cool, subtle colors of the Summer seasonal palette.
As I have been mentioning through out the Color Synergy Series, women of color do fall into other color seasons besides the usual Winter and Autumn seasons. If you are a woman of color there maybe a possibility that you are Summer season. I scoured the internet looking for women of color who fall within the Clear Summer color palette, but was unsuccessful finding authentic, relatable examples. However, please do review my last article within the series on the Soft Summer Woman of Style. You may find some similarities that resonate with you. I will revisit this article at a later if I come across any relatable examples of women of color who fall into the Clear Summer color palette.
Caveat: I would like to also point out that one of the reasons why I am passionate about including color analysis within my image consulting and personal styling practice is because women of color in the past were never given as much attention within the original color analysis system. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, women of color were either categorized as a deep winter or deep autumn season with emphasis usually put on women of color being mostly deep winters without further analysis or consideration of the nuanced, physical characteristics in skin tone, diverse eye patterns and hair colors. Thankfully, with the inception of the 12 Seasonal Color Analysis system it has expanded the application of color analysis to all women equally who do not neatly fit into just a basic – winter, summer, autumn or spring – season.
Below is an example of the lovely Kate Middleton – Duchess of Cambridge. In my opinion Kate presents as the quintessential Clear Summer Woman of Style. She has noticeably cool skin coloring that appears to be rosy-pink; Kate’s eyes are also a cool, subtle blue-grey and her hair is a soft brown mixed with lighter brown highlights. What I like about Kate’s style is the fact that she wears all of the colors from the Clear Summer palette and does not shy away from her brighter accents colors.
Actress Allison Williams is another excellent example of the classic Cool Summer Woman of Style. Although she tends to wear her hair in various colors, Allison looks her absolute best in cool browns and slightly lighter brown colors. Her natural skin coloring is also cool and void of any warmth; she also has a slightly rosy-pink glow and her eyes are a subtle, cool blue.

What are your POWER colors?
Your palettes POWER colors are colors, for example, from the Cool Summer color palette; these colors will radiate and sparkle against your natural coloring. POWER colors of the cool summer color palette convey an energetic presence when you wear them and are subtle, calm and cool. Your POWER colors should illuminate the best of who you are in your overall image, personal style, as well as your personal brand. These colors are your palettes GO-TO colors when you want to make a confident, powerful statement; especially in a business/corporate environments – more on that later!
What are your ANCHOR colors?
The ANCHOR colors found within the Cool Summer color palette are considered neutral colors that can be found in your (or should be added to your) wardrobe capsules. Anchor colors ‘anchor’ your wardrobes overall look; for example, if you chose to wear a Rose Beige, 2-piece, pant suit to work or a job interview you can complement this outfit with your POWER colors as an inside blouse, completed with one of your palettes signature, ACCENT colors (coming up next!). Likewise, you can also wear your palettes anchor colors in your handbags, shoes, outdoor fall/winter/spring/summer accessories. Anchor colors are your palettes BEST neutral colors that pull everything together into a fabulous, cohesive personal style.
What are your ACCENT Colors?
Lastly, your palettes ACCENT colors are the Cool Summer’s most energetic and purest colors that some women who fall within the cool summer palette, may feel is too strong for them to wear within their actual wardrobe items. The rule for me and which I share with my clients is the 80/20 rule. This means that I have chosen to wear 80% of my palettes POWER + ANCHOR colors and about 20% of my palettes ACCENT colors only in my accessories, my nail color, and selectively in my makeup colors. For example, one of the accent colors from the clear winter palette is that of Icy Pink and Tropical Blue. These colors might be too strong for some women; however, by utilizing the 80\20 rule you can incorporate your palettes accent on your nail polish, as lipgloss/lipstick which adds a pop of sultry color to your normal makeup palette or to your evening accessories. Again, how you choose to wear any of your palettes signature colors are personal to you.
