Seasonal Color Analysis – Subdomains Explained!
Today, I am back with PART II of our Color Synergy Series; as we will be taking a closer look at Seasonal Color Analysis in association to the 12 Subdomains: Deep, Light, Warm, Cool, Clear, and Muted.
So far we have completed PART I of our basic intro as to what color analysis is all about and the process of elimination one would follow if they are interested in figuring out what their best, POWER colors are visually communicating about them. Moving forward; today, I will be briefly introducing you to the 12 subdomains of seasonal color analysis as it applies to the original color analysis system that was first introduced to women and gentlemen back in the early 80s, by color consultant pioneer Carole Jackson.
However, it was later discovered that although the 4-basic color seasons and associating color palettes of (Winter – Summer – Spring – Autumn) provided a starting point for women to gain an understanding of their primary color season, many women were still dissatisfied with their signature color palette because something was ‘off’. Although, you may have identified as being warm or cool the corresponding color palette did not quite resonate with an individual’s natural coloring; as a result, women applying their primary color palette to their wardrobe, accessories and makeup collection desired a more precise and natural outcome – INTRODUCING the 12 Season Color Analysis!
Caveat: I would like to also point out that one of the reason’s why I am passionate about including color analysis within my image consulting and personal styling practice is because women of color in the past were never given as much attention within the original color analysis system. Unfortunately, women of color were either categorized as a deep winter or deep autumn season with emphasis usually put on women of color being mostly deep winters without further analysis or consideration of the nuanced, physical characteristics in skin tone, diverse eye patterns and hair colors. Thankfully, with the inception of the 12 Seasonal Color Analysis system it has expanded the application of color analysis to all women equally who do not neatly fit into just a basic – winter, summer, autumn or spring – season.
Below we will start with a brief overview of the subdomains that apply to the original color analysis seasonal descriptions.
Introducing the decadent – DEEP – Winter Color Palette
Women who have had their colors professionally assessed OR done themselves by following the process of elimination, which I speak about here, and have determined without a doubt that you fall within the DEEP WINTER palette will naturally have cool, skin undertones, dark (sultry), intense features and high contrast in terms of their natural coloring (hair, skin and eyes). We will delve further into the deep winter color season in our next post – stay tuned!
Next up! Energetic – CLEAR – Winter Color Palette
If you are a woman who has determined that your best POWER colors resides within the energetic, Clear Winter Color Palette then your natural coloring is void of any warmth; similar to that of the deep winter. That also means that your skin undertone will also be cool, as well as your eye pattern and hair color. However, unlike the deep winter color palette your overall appearance is NOT as intense (deep). Your natural coloring although cool is more energetic and bright with a cool, clear, rosy glow that naturally radiates from your overall appearance. Exciting, isn’t it! Stay tuned for further analysis of the energetic palette of the Clear Winter!
Lastly, we have the laid back – COOL – Winter Color Palette
Alas! if you have determined that you fall within the Cool Winter Color Palette you are a woman whose natural coloring is slightly delicate compared to that of the other two winter seasons. As such, you will appear as just cool – both in your eyes, skin undertone and hair. Similar to the deep and clear winter women of style; you are also void of any warmth, but your natural coloring is delicate and cool – not as intense as the deep winter; nor crystal-bright as the clear winter palette. You are simply a laid, back cool winter season/palette. Stay tuned for our in-depth analysis of the Cool Winter season!
